My little one

Orin is turning 1 in April. I cannot believe how fast time flies. To me, he is still a newborn. He has brought such joy to our family and is such an easy baby. As it is his birthday in a few days - here are a few of his favourite things:

He loves to dance to music. Country, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, anything! He sways to the music or bounces up and down.
He loves table foods. He would much rather eat with us at the table than eat baby food.
He loves our pets, Ticks, Jenny, and Blackie.
He loves to read a bedtime story with me.
He loves to walk. He walks around with a big smile on his face as if to say, "Look at me, Look at me!"
Kyle loves to make him laugh. Orin thinks everything Kyle does is funny.
He loves to wrestle with Aidan. They both giggle until they fall over.
He adores his daddy.
He loves to nurse.
He likes to get into the middle of whatever everyone else is doing.
He loves to unpack my kitchen cupboards and make noises with everything he finds.
He loves being outdoors and regularly escapes when someone leaves the security door open. I can mow the entire garden and he will be happily playing outside.
He can say Mama and Daddy.
He is happy and cheerful and smiley.
He is adored by all who meet him. We love him lots.

My little prince.

Aidan turned 4 at the very beginning of the year and Sunday the 6th was his first official time in "Big Primary". He wore the crown his teacher had made him all day. Here he is in his pyjamas still wearing his "Prince crown". I do so love this young man.

Logan took picture of the boys playing with glowsticks they got in their Christmas stockings. They had hours of fun.

Kyle and Orin have a special bond. They have such fun together. Kyle called me to say that they were fishing off of his bed.

Kyle set up the tent outside, with Aidan's tents inside. This is the connecting tube that runs between the two. Orin thought it was the funniest thing.

1. When I was at Technikon we practiced typing so much that I would type what people were saying in my head. Thankfully the habit is gone now!
2. I have about a trillion siblings - actually I have 2 brothers, 1 sister, 7 step brothers and sisters and 5 half-brothers and sisters!
3. When I was little, I wanted to be an archaeologist. My friend and I would swop books about dinosaurs.
4. When I am pregnant I always look at movie credits to find names for the baby.
5. In 2000 I suffered from Choriocarcinoma and went through 6 months of chemo. It was one of the greatest learning experiences of my life.
6. In standard 5 (grade 7) I won the General Knowledge trophy at school. To this day it is one of my proudest moments. I used to read the encyclopeadia while eating my breakfast!
7. And lastly, I had tick bite fever when I was 12. I subsequently have a lot of sympathy for people who suffer from this illness.

New Year's Eve and Midnight Movies

My sister-in-law invited us to watch Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in her garden for New Years Eve. It was such a special evening. The children were swimming and laughing. People were braaing and sitting chatting in the garden. It was lovely and warm. Our Bishop took some great pictures of Logan and the boys.

Aidan is a fish in water. His only problem is that he is so skinny that he gets cold very quickly and cannot stay in for too long. I don't mind because I get to cuddle him to get him warm again.

Home Alone for Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year alone at home. Every year we have Christmas Eve dinner with Logan's family and spend Christmas Day with my family. This year Logan's family went to Meiringskloof, Free State for Christmas. We invited my Dad and Lynne and their beautiful family for Christmas Eve dinner. I spent ages getting everything ready and we had a lovely evening together.



On Christmas Day we lazed around and watched the children play with their new toys, ate lots of leftover gammon, and caught up on sleep. My brother, Nathaniel, slept over Christmas Eve. I enjoyed watching him enjoy his stocking gifts. He even decided to sleep under the Christmas tree with the boys. The church bells rang at some unearthly hour and we were up opening presents at 5:00am!

Father Christmas was very kind to me this year: I got an amazing digital piano. It is so wonderful to have music in our home. Of course I don't get a chance to play right now with everyone wanting a turn! This is a picture of before the piano stool was delivered.
