When Logan came and told me that Kerry had passed away I was busy making supper - frying meat burgers in fact. I didn't believe him at first. Thought that he had made a mistake, that he had heard wrong. I eventually understood that it was really true. I cried a lot. But I learnt a great lesson. Life does truly carry on. I had to still feed my family, I had to bathe the children, cuddle them and put them to bed. The house had to be cleaned. I had to read my scriptures and say my prayers. President van Rheenen spoke at Kerry's funeral and as he spoke about Kerry carrying on her work in Paradise it strengthened my testimony. I thought of how devastating it would be if I didn't believe that Kerry would be with all of us again. That Kerry is......not was! I could see that Kerry's family understood that. They were so composed and dignified at Kerry's funeral. I know that this makes them very heartsore but they will be with her again.
Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will. ~Author Unknown

Thank you for the post, I loved reading about your thoughts . I also loved seeing Kerry's garden of hearts. My memory of her... Her laugh. She had an infectious laugh and always seemed to be happy. Your families are always in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Ruby. I feel the same way. I was going to come down for the funeral but my passport has expired. I have been so sad to hear of her passing but like you I truly believe she "is" and not "was."
ReplyDeleteI think I'm still stuck with a sense of disbelief about it. Thanks for the wonderful quote Ruby.
