Kyle’s Leadership Camp

DSC04921

Kyle had to be at school at 7:00 on Friday morning.  The prefects and monitors went to Maranaman on the Vaal.  It was very hard for me to let him go.

On the other hand…..He was really excited to leave :-)

A certain someone missed him the whole week and said a prayer for his brother every night.

We are so glad you are home again Kyle!

Ward Fun Walk

Today we had our Ward’s fun walk.  The event was well organised and we had a good time walking together.
The day started out looking quite dreary.  This was at 6.45am!

I walked 4km with Jesse and Logan walked +/- 7km.  It was a great way to spend the morning and it was nice not to have the sun beating down on us.

Happy Birthday Dad!

 DSC01647Pops

TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY DAD:

  1. He is a gentleman.
  2. He loves his family
  3. He is a good dad and looks after his family
  4. He has the most amazing sense of humour.
  5. He loves the gospel and tried very hard to teach us right from wrong
  6. He loves singing
  7. He loves the same rugby team as me
  8. He has amazing children!  I love my siblings!  ALL OF THEM!
  9. He loves music and has given me  the gift of loving all types of music too!
  10. He loves my children

Aidan give me one thing you love about Pops:  Because he loves me and he lets me sleep over sometimes.

Kyle:  He is such a nice, loving man that will usually go through the trouble that it takes to please his children if it is a good thing.

Thanks for being a wonderful father. We love you!

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!  ~Lydia M. Child, Philothea: A Romance, 1836

Getting ready for church

Getting ready for church is always a daunting task for me but things went surprisingly well this Sunday and I even managed to take a few photos.

Saying Goodbye

We said goodbye to Theo and Tammy on Wednesday night.  I am sure their families were sad to see them go (and so were we) but we were happy for them to have this opportunity.  They are on their way to New Zealand.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Aidan and Kyle's 1st day at school

I am so proud of my boys today.  And proud of myself for not crying (even though I wanted to).  I am glad that Aidan has a big brother who loves him and wants to look after him at school.

Aidan turns 6!

Aidans birthday
I lay in the hospital bed on New Years Eve, listening to the firecrackers in the streets below.  Everyone was celebrating but I was worrying about what was happening to my baby.  I didn’t get much sleep that night with all the noise and stress of the situation.
After surviving cancer the fertility specialists said that I would not be able to have more children.  A month later I was pregnant with Aidan.  I had many scares with the pregnancy and Logan also was unemployed during the pregnancy.
When Aidan was born on New Years Day I lost a lot of blood and it took the doctors a while to stabilise me.  I remember the sound of the beat of my heart sounding faster and faster.
Through all the challenges I have one thought now:  Having this sweet little boy was so worth it!  He still challenges us but the love that he has for us and his brothers is so awesome.  We love this Miracle Boy.
