Orin's New Haircut

Friday Night Pizza Evening

On Friday nights we normally make pizza together as a family.  Here is the recipe I use.  It is delicious.

500g flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 10g packet of dry yeast
45g butter/margarine
300ml lukewarm water
2 cups cheese

I double the ingredients for my family and then we have pizza for lunch the next day.

Sift the dry ingredients together and rub the margerine in with your fingers.
Add the water a little at a time to form a dough and knead for 10 minutes.
Let the dough rise for 5 minutes.

A teenager in the House!

Happy birthday for the 15th my boy.  You are a wonderful young man and you make us extremely proud and grateful to have you in our family.
Thanks Michaela, for helping your old sister out with this cute cake!

Life

When Logan came and told me that Kerry had passed away I was busy making supper - frying meat burgers in fact.  I didn't believe him at first.  Thought that he had made a mistake, that he had heard wrong.  I eventually understood that it was really true.  I cried a lot.  But I learnt a great lesson.  Life does truly carry on.  I had to still feed my family, I had to bathe the children, cuddle them and put them to bed.  The house had to be cleaned.  I had to read my scriptures and say my prayers.  President van Rheenen spoke at Kerry's funeral and as he spoke about Kerry carrying on her work in Paradise it strengthened my testimony.  I thought of how devastating it would be if I didn't believe that Kerry would be with all of us again.  That Kerry is......not was!  I could see that Kerry's family understood that.  They were so composed and dignified at Kerry's funeral.  I know that this makes them very heartsore but they will be with her again.

Spring is coming....

Even though we are having a very cold spell I thought I would post some pictures of my apricot tree to brighten my day :-)  Sorry to all those in the northern hemisphere.

Jesse 13 months

Jesse is growing so fast that I really cannot keep up.  Here are a few pictures of the past month.

Jesse loves to sit on the swing while Orin pushes them.  If I listen at the window I can hear them giggling.

Jesse got a beautiful jersey from Carol.  We love it!  Thank you Carol.

His hair is getting way too long.  I will have to take a picture of him just out of the bath.  It is very curly.DSC06373

He loves exploring outside and getting filthy dirty.DSC06377

Keeping warm on a very cold day.  I think he will love summer.  I think I will love it too when I only have to wash a t-shirt and shorts.DSC06276

I love watching Jesse sleep.  He looks so peaceful.DSC06278  He loves laughing and his brothers will do anything to get him to chuckle.  He has started saying words that probably only we understand, like:  Mom, Dad, hello, meow.DSC06324

Kerry Jean

Please say prayers for Kerry.  She was involved in an accident last night  on her way home from a meeting at Benoni Chapel.  A car with two young men in drove into her side at a very high speed.  Her prognosis at the time was not good at all (3/15).  By the time she got to the hospital it was 7/15.  She has swelling on the brain and 3 fractured ribs.  She couldn't breathe on her own but by the end of the day some of the swelling as gone down.  She is sedated and breathing on her own at this time.

Beautiful Winter Day

Sometimes life is about the simple pleasures.  I love nothing more than getting together with family and just sitting around chatting.  On Saturday we all met at the Stolps for a braai.  It was so nice to sit in the warm sunshine and soak up some Vitamin D.

Some of us jumped on the trampoline,

While others played rugby and soccer.

Aidan took a few photos.

Some of us braaied marshmallows and others ate them :-)  DSC06271

The three little cousins got acquainted.  I see trouble ahead!

Lara gave all three of them their first white egg.  She has wanted to do it for ages but one of them is always asleep, or irritable or hungry.

It was interesting to see the different personalities come out as they ate their eggs.

Still Here!

Hey I am still in the land of the living.  Just extremely busy with real life.  I have so much to catch up on my other blog of 365 photos and don't even know where to start.

Last Wednesday I caught a horrible flu bug and I was knocked out this whole week!  Today is the first day that I actually feel up to doing anything.  I have lots of washing to catch up.  Seems like the rest of the family have caught it too and even the administering of all the medicine is enough to get me exhausted :-)

Bring on summer I say......much less washing and illness!
